Jason Donovan

Jason Donovan

Originally played by Darius Perkins, Jason Donovan took over the role of Scott Robinson in 1986 and soon became half of Australia’s most famous soap couple. Sporty, musical, fun and irresistibly good-looking, Scott Robinson was the heartthrob of Neighbours that made every 80’s girl weak at their knees. But as you all know, only one girl stole his heart. But it wasn’t always smooth sailing for the hunky skateboarder.

First seen in episode one, Scott knocked around with neighbour, Danny Ramsay. The two got into all sorts of trouble – at one point running away from home to live with an elderly woman on her farm. In 1986, Scott met the love of his life, Charlene Mitchell, mistaking her for a burglar – and she soccer punched him in the face (great way to start a relationship!).

The world fell in love with Scott and Charlene and despite their ups and downs, and their 1987 wedding was watched by over 21 million viewers. Shorty after, Jane Harris began to have feelings for Scott, and stole a kiss with the married man. Charlene wasn’t impressed, and it looked like the end for the newly weds when a trip to Queensland saw Charlene develop a close bond with friend Steve Fisher. It was their wedding song “Suddenly” that got the pair back together when the song played at a 50’s party they were both attending.

Charlene moved to Queensland after her granddad had purchased a home for the couple. Unfortunately for Scott, his new cadetship with Erinsborough News wouldn’t allow him to move away at the time, so Scott agreed to move up to the sunshine state once his cadetship was finished. The couple remains together to this day, living in Brisbane with their daughter Madison, while eldest son Daniel returned to the cul-de-sac where his parents first met.

Most memorable moment: Who doesn’t remember their wedding day? Flowers, tears, joy, love and laughter…it was a fairytale wedding for a fairytale couple. Throw in 80’s rock love song “Suddenly” by Angry Anderson and you have one of the most memorable moments in Neighbours history.
