Felix Mallard

Ben, 16, is the only child of Libby Kennedy and as a result is doted upon. Always a quiet, reflective child, the product of many an upheaval in his very young life. Too young to really know his father Drew before he died, when his mother started dating Dan Fitzgerald and they were subsequently married, Ben became very close to him, viewing Dan as a father. When Libby and Dan split up, Ben understandably took it hard.

He turned to writing stories as a way to escape and it quickly came to the attention of his teacher just how vivid and moving they were. He was accepted at prestigious arts school in the country. In recent times he has struggled with the culture of the school. When Libby takes up a teaching position overseas, it provides an opportunity for Ben to try some new surroundings. Karl and Susan’s empty nesting phase is short lived when he moves into their spare room with no intention of leaving.
