Newcastle Jets vs Macarthur FC

Sunday's first clash had all the ingredients to be a cracker as the Jets welcomed Macarthur to Maitland Sports Ground.

It certainly delivered on the goals front with an incredible seven strikes hitting the back of the net over the course of 90 minutes.

The Bulls came out victorious on this occasion however they had to work for it as they came back from a 2-0 deficit to record a 4-3 win.

South Melbourne FC vs Olympic FC

Two NPL clubs went head to head at Lakeside Stadium in the second of the two matches.

Over an hour delay due to lightning plus extra time meant that this fixture took almost four hours to come to a close.

By half time, Olympic held a 2-1 lead which they managed to hold on to until the dying embers of the second half.

Ross Archibald popped up with the all-important equaliser for South in the 90th minute which forced the match into extra time.

With momentum on their side, the Melbourne outfit secured their passage into the Quarter Finals in spectacular fashion thanks to Marco Jankovic's wonder free kick from around the halfway mark which looped over the head of Olympic's shot stopper.

South Melbourne now have a date with a Victorian outfit in either Hume City or Melbourne Srbija.
